What is included in a TherapySites subscription?

Our all-in-one packages includes a professional therapist website, web hosting, a domain name, email, mental health resources, unlimited use of the website editor and technical support.

How many pages are included?

As many as you need! Our therapy websites are pre-loaded with default pages that you can choose to use or not use. Your own custom pages can be added by clicking the ‘Add a Page’ button in the control panel of the website editor.

Do you provide FTP access?

No, your therapy website must be edited using our website editor. You will find that FTP access is unnecessary because our website editor makes it easy to upload documents and images. The website editor is a proprietary content management system, crafted specifically for our designs and is not compatible with hand-coded HTML or CSS files.

Can I edit my website with an external website building application such as Adobe Dreamweaver?

No, our websites are engineered to be used with our website editor. Third party applications such as Adobe Dreamweaver or Apple iWeb are not supported. But, give our website editor a try! Editing your website is easy and your options are plentiful. If you need help creating your website, our customer care team is available to walk you through the process.

Are there any added fees or hidden charges?

While we do not have any hidden fees, we do charge for the following add-on services:

  • SEO Boost — $40
  • Domain Release or Domain Change* — $15
  • Additional Domain* — $45
  • Extra Direct Access Users** — $10 for 5 additional users

* Domain fees apply to domain names which we register for you, we do not charge any fees for externally registered domains.

** 10 email addresses are included with a subscription.

Can I create a multi-practitioner website?

Yes! You can create a page for each therapist in your practice that includes a bio, qualifications and a photo. TherapySites can give each therapist their own unique email address as well as a general email address for the office and website. If that option doesn’t work for you, there are many different ways to set-up your multi-practitioner website.

How does TherapySites differ from Brighter Vision?

While both TherapySites and Brighter Vision offer mobile-responsive websites for therapists, we offer two very different services. TherapySites gives therapists the power to completely personalize and tailor their practice website with an easy-to-use website editor that can launch your site in just 10 minutes. Our all-in-one package is packed with unrivaled features such as unlimited website pages, Psychology Today directory listing and HIPAA compliant technology, at no additional cost. Also, TherapySites has zero set-up fees for all of our products and services.

How should I choose my domain name?

Your domain name can be one that you already own, or a new one provided by TherapySites. Good domains should be short, memorable and representative of your business name or your industry. Hyphens generally should not be used in domain names, because they can potentially confuse users and lead them to a different website.

Can I use a domain name that I’ve already registered somewhere else?

Absolutely! Once you sign up with TherapySites, you will be asked if you have an existing domain name you would like to use. Simply enter your domain name and we will send you instructions on how to make it work with your TherapySites subscription. You don’t even have to transfer the domain name to TherapySites’ control! Of course, if you would like us to manage the domain for you, we can do so at no additional cost.

Can I use TherapySites provided images and stock photos in my printed materials?

Yes! You may use any content from your TherapySites website in your printed promotional material, as long as you have a subscription. After a subscription is ended, only content that was not provided by TherapySites may be used.

Who owns my website/domain name?

If you have an existing domain name you can use it with TherapySites and retain ownership. You also can transfer the domain name to us if you would like us to maintain it for you, and in that case we will keep it renewed at no extra charge as long as you have your subscription. If we purchase a domain name for you, it will be owned by TherapySites, but at any time we can transfer the domain to your ownership for a fee of $15. In every case, you own any website content that you added (as long as it was yours to begin with) and TherapySites owns the content that we provide with the site. If your subscription with TherapySites ends, any of the content you created remains your own, but you may no longer use the content provided by TherapySites.

How do I launch my website?

Unveiling your website is a breeze with our streamlined process. Our concierge service or dedicated customer specialists will guide you through every step, ensuring your new website goes live effortlessly.

How do I update the website, once it is launched?

Just log into the website editor to edit or customize your website. After making changes, click the ‘Save Changes’ button to apply the changes to your live website. It’s that easy!

How do I adjust the website design?

From changing the theme of your website to the color palette and layout, it’s easy to create a professional website that is unique to your practice. Simply navigate to the page you wish to edit from the control panel in the website editor. Click on the color panels at the top of the page to change the color of any page element including the menu, background and page icons.

How is my site optimized for search engines?

TherapySites works hard to build your website with industry best practices in mind to increase your search engine visibility. Your website is pre-loaded with the best keywords for searches related to the therapy industry. Here is some additional information on Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Can I track site visitors?

Yes! You can use Google’s Analytics service. Analytics is easy to set up and we can give you easy-to-follow instructions.

What is the length of my subscription?

Most of our contracts are month-to-month. Depending on the promotional offers you selected during the sign-up process, you may be committed to several months of service. Please reach out to a customer care representative to review your contract details.

What is TherapySites’ “HIPAA Compliant Technology”?

Our HIPAA compliant technology refers to our innovative website editor. It is encrypted to protect your account information.

Do you offer HIPAA compliant email?

At this time, we do not offer HIPAA compliant email and we do not recommend including confidential client information in emails. However, if you sign up for a secure email provider such as Hushmail, we can set your email records in place to work with our hosted email. Hosted emails are included with your subscription.

Will my TherapySites website be HIPAA compliant?

All of the contact forms on our therapist websites include a privacy disclaimer which strictly advises against submitting protected health information (PHI) through forms. Our servers do not store any PHI or contact information which means your website has no way of transmitting or collecting PHI which falls under HIPAA compliance.
